To be able to supply the right kind of capacity building services, together with UNESCO-IHE we hold a websurvey to assess the need for and the specific interest in, knowledge and improved use of climate information for the specific responsibilities of water sector specialists
When you work on: policy development, planning, operations in utilities, hydropower generation, agriculture and/or nature mangement, please take a few moments and fill out our survey.
UNESCO-IHE and CPWC will use the results of this survey for the development of education and training materials on water and climate.

Activities
CPWC supports: START - Advanced Institute on Global Environmental Change and the Vulnerability of water resources in the context of the Millennium Development Goals
The Advanced Institute aims to enhance the pool of trained young scientists from developing countries by engaging them in a network of researchers using cross-disciplinary approaches to address key issues of global environmental change and sustainable development. The Advanced Institute is open to young scientists and professionals, 35 years of age or younger on 10 March 2007. They must be citizen and resident of a country in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The institute will have three components:
1. a three-week long intensive Seminar to be held at UNESCO-IHE, Delft, The Netherlands;
2. one-year research grants for successful Institute Fellows; and
3. a synthesis workshop that will follow completion of the research.

CPWC supports: Unesco-IHE Interdpartmental course - Climate Change in Integrated Water Management
The Co-operative Programme on Water and Climate (CPWC) and UNESCO-IHE organise a Summer course of two weeks in September 2007: a first week mostly theoretical and a second week with applications in a case study. The aim of the course is to help UNESCO-IHE students to integrate the complex technical, environmental and socio-economic aspects related to climate change into water management.

Summer School on "Managing Transitions to Adaptive River Basin Management"
The 2007 NeWater Summer School on "Managing Transitions to Adaptive River Basin Management" will take place from 11 July ? 21 July, 2007 in Bad Krozingen, near Freiberg and the Black Forest in Southern Germany.
The Summer School is intended as a sequel to last year's Autumn School in Peyresq, France which introduced NeWater and non-NeWater researchers to concepts of and methods for adaptive river basin management. It is organised by the Institute of Environmental Systems Research, University of Osnabrück, Germany, in cooperation with the Global Water System Project (GWSP).
The Global Water System Project (GWSP) is able to offer funding (participation and travel costs) for up to 5 young researchers (PhD-Students and PostDocs). Please submit the application form including a CV, a letter of reference, and a letter of motivation to the GWSP IPO (gwsp.ipo@uni-bonn.de). Deadline for applications is 23 April 2007.

Mission
The Programme's education & training consortium is co-ordinated by UNESCO-IHE.
Its purpose is to stimulate and ensure:
► the development of education and training materials on water and climate; we focus on how to improve the use of climate information by water sector specialists;
► highlighting the importance of training and capacity building in policy debates and international fora or activities.;
